Honest answer: it depends entirely on what you're doing with it. Anybody who gives you a single number before asking what you need is selling you something.

A machine for schoolwork, email, and light gaming is a very different animal from one that renders 3D scenes overnight or drives a 4K display at high refresh. The GPU alone can swing a build by a thousand dollars. So the first thing I do is ask questions: what are you running, what resolution and framerate are you after, do you need a lot of storage, is this going to sit in a living room or under a desk, do you care what it looks like. Then I build a parts list around those answers.

Rough starting points - PC component prices are in great fluctuation right now due to AI demand:

• Entry - Up to $1300. Solid 1080p gaming, school and office work, streaming and browsing. Handles modern titles at good settings without drama.

• Mid-Range - $ 1300 to $2500. 1440p gaming, content creation, heavier multitasking. This is where most people land and where the price-to-performance is best.

• Enthusiast / Workstation - $2500+. 4K gaming, 3D rendering, video editing, local AI work. Big GPU, lots of memory, fast storage. This is what I run myself.
  

Those are starting points, not menus. Every build gets scoped to you, and there is a lot of room in between.

Two things worth knowing before you get sticker shock. First, parts are sold at exact cost. What I pay is what you pay, verified with receipts. My money comes from a flat labor fee, not from marking up your GPU. Second, I will absolutely build to a budget. Tell me your ceiling up front and I'll tell you honestly what it gets you, and if I think you're better off waiting a couple months for a part to come down in price, I'll tell you that too.

Quotes are free. Reach out, tell me what you're after even if it's rough, and I'll put together a real parts list with real numbers so you know exactly what you're looking at before anything gets ordered.

Flat rate, always. You'll know exactly what you're paying before I order a single part.

I don't mark up components. Every part goes on your invoice at the exact price I paid for it, and you get the receipts. My income comes entirely from a single flat labor fee based on the complexity of your build which starts at $150.00.

Custom water cooling loops are quoted separately.

Every fee includes parts selection and compatibility verification, full assembly, cable management, Windows installation, all drivers and BIOS updated, and stress testing before the machine leaves my bench. All builds carry a 90-day labor warranty.

Hourly billing means the meter runs while a shop troubleshoots its own mistakes. That's not your problem to pay for. A flat fee means the number you're quoted is the number you pay, whether the build goes smoothly or I spend an extra three hours chasing a stubborn RAM kit.

90-Day Labor Warranty: Ryan’s Rigs warrants all workmanship and assembly for 90 days from the

date of delivery. If any issue arises directly from the Builder’s assembly, configuration, or

workmanship within this period, it will be diagnosed and corrected at no charge.

Parts Warranty: Components are covered under each manufacturer’s individual warranty, which

varies by part and brand. Ryan’s Rigs will assist the client in navigating the warranty claim process

as needed, but parts replacement costs fall outside the Builder’s labor warranty.

Warranty Exclusions: This warranty covers defects in workmanship and assembly as performed

by Ryan’s Rigs. It does not apply to damage resulting from client modification, mishandling,

unauthorized repair attempts, or physical damage occurring after delivery. If evidence of tampering

or post-delivery modification is present, the warranty is void.

Parts at exact cost means you are paying the EXACT cost for the part. I make money from labor, not from the parts themselves.

Let's say "PC Parts Store R Us" has the cheapest offering for a specific GPU, and that GPU is selling for $599.00. That $599.00 is what shows up on your invoice. Not $650. Not "MSRP plus handling." The same number I paid. Every part is verified with receipts and noted on the Ryan's Rigs build documentation, so you can check my math on every single line.

If a part goes on sale between quote and order, that savings is yours. If there's a mail-in rebate, that's yours too. Shipping and sales tax get passed through at exact cost as well, listed separately so you can see them.

I DO NOT mark up parts. Distributors and prebuilt system sellers are already doing that aggressively enough for everybody. What you're paying me for is the labor: the research, the sourcing, the assembly, the testing, and the fact that the machine shows up ready to use instead of ready to troubleshoot.
